Hyundai seems to have taken a leaf out of Tata’s book as now it too has introduced its twin-cylinder technology for the CNG-powered car. The first model to be offered with this system is the Hyundai Exter whose main rival Tata Punch also gets similar tech. Hyundai offers the same three variants of split-cylinder tank configuration as the Micro SUV which gets the option of a CNG powertrain.

With the introduction of a split-cylinder configuration for the CNG variant of the Exeter, Hyundai has also increased the price by Rs 7,000 nominally. The Korean marque also offers a CNG powertrain option for the micro SUV with the newly launched Knight edition SX variant.

One of the biggest advantages of twin-cylinder CNG technology is the increased boot space on offer. The redesigned Exter CNG also comes with an integrated electronic control unit (ECU), which allows switching between petrol and CNG modes on the move, as per the dual cylinder CNG technology available on the latest Exter of Tata CNG for customers with up to 3 3-year warranty They receive.

In the latest Exeter CNG model, Hyundai claims a fuel economy of 27.1 km/kg. The micro SUV gets a combined capacity of 60 liters which is equivalent to two CNG cylinders. The normal petrol variants are powered by a 1.2-litre powertrain that produces 83 PS and 114 Nm and also gets a 5-speed AMT option.
