Six airbags were previously standard on just the Citroen C5 Aircross midsize SUV.
- In addition to six airbags, ISOFIX seat anchoring and a rear seatbelt reminder are standard equipment on Citroen vehicles.
- There are currently only two front airbag options available for the Citroen C3 hatchback, eC3 electric hatchback, and C3 Aircross compact SUV.
- This modification will take effect in July of 2024, or the second part of the year.
- In India, Citroen now sells the C3, eC3, C3 Aircross, and C5 Aircross as retail models.
Despite the absence of a six airbag requirement for all new automobiles in India, automakers have been aiming to gradually integrate this safety element throughout their range. Citroen is the most recent brand to announce this change to their inventory, yet the French automaker will not immediately offer six airbags. Rather, this safety update will be applied to the Citroen C3, Citroen eC3, and Citroen C3 Aircross starting in the second half of this year, or July 2024. At the moment, these three locally produced Citroen cars come with just two front airbags.
Additional Safety Elements
Apart from the six airbags on the side and curtain, ISOFIX seat anchoring and a rear seatbelt reminder will be standard equipment on Citroen vehicles.
Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors are currently standard on the C3 and eC3. A parking camera is also included with the Citroen hatchbacks, and the C3 Aircross is equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system and hill hold assistance.
A long list of safety features is already included in Citroen’s flagship SUV in India, the C5 Aircross, which includes six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), park assist, hill assist, rear parking camera, and blind-spot detection system.
