  • Audi Q6 e-tron Electric: In its global EV lineup, Audi’s newest electric SUV, the Q8 e-tron, is positioned below it.
  • makes its debut on a global scale in the Audi Q6 e-tron Electric Quattro and SQ6 e-tron versions.

  • accompanied by a 94.9 kWh battery pack with a 625 km WLTP stated range.
  • Pricing for the fully outfitted quattro variant could start at Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom); an India debut is possible in 2025.

The Audi Q6 e-tron is a brand-new electric vehicle that Audi has just unveiled. It will sit below the Q8 e-tron in the luxury brand’s lineup and is built on the new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture of the Volkswagen Group.

A Genuine Gazer

Audi Q6 e-tron

Thanks to its hefty grille and split lighting arrangement, which places the LED DRLs in the upper part of the front, the car has an aggressive visage. Additionally, customers can choose from eight different lighting signatures for the Matrix LED modules to customize the headlamp system on their Q6 e-tron.

The Q6 e-Tron features a stylish set of alloy wheels and the recognizable profile of an Audi SUV from the side view. Proceeding to the back, it is equipped with six OLED screens for connected taillights, which have 360 segments in total and produce a new animation every 10 milliseconds. Additionally, Audi has improved the functionality of the rear lighting component by enabling active communication with automobiles that come after the Q6 e-tron. By displaying important warning symbols, it will alert the vehicle following the Audi EV to potential traffic conditions or accidents up ahead.

The Audi Q6 e-tron Electric, which features distinctive alloy wheels and blacked-out accents, is the slightly sportier sibling of the Q6 e-tron that was also unveiled. Being the initial Audi vehicle built on Here are the dimensions of the new PPE platform about the brand’s existing flagship EV SUV

The Q8 e-tron offers a longer wheelbase and is longer overall, although the Q6 e-tron is still broader and higher than the latter. There is more interior legroom in the Q8 e-tron due to its larger size.

All-new Audi Interior

The Q6 e-tron, a recent addition to the family, introduces the new interior design language for Audi that will also be included in subsequent generations. The driver and center screens have curved, dual-integrated screens, and the majority of the dashboard is now entirely digital. Three screens are still available: an 11.9-inch digital driver’s display, a sizable 14.5-inch infotainment system, and a 10.9-inch co-passenger display. The climate controls have been moved up to the central display and no longer have a dedicated touchscreen interface in the console. The “Active Privacy Mode” on the co-passenger screen helps keep the driver from being distracted.

An optional augmented reality-based heads-up display is also available for the Q6 e-tron, which may show data like speed, traffic signs, and navigational symbols. Additionally, Audi has enhanced its voice assistant, dubbed “Audi Assistant,” by using artificial intelligence (A.I.) that can recognize more than 800 speech requests. It continually gains knowledge from user behavior and helps the driver as a result.

Additionally, a light bar that runs from the left front door to the right front door is located at the top of the dashboard. It has three features, the first of which is a welcome feature that lets you know when the automobile is locked or unlocked. Second, it mimics the dynamic turn indication lights in the digital cluster without actually replacing the conventional indicator signage. Finally, it displays the charge level as well as the pricing procedure.

A 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, an 830W 20-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, and several advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are among the other features on board. The SQ6 e-tron’s cabin is completely black, whereas the Q6 e-tron’s is generally lighter and still features chrome accents throughout.

Information About Its Electric Drivetrains

The global-spec Q6 e-tron will initially be available from Audi in two variants: the Q6 e-tron quattro and the SQ6 e-tron, whose specs are shown below.

Audi Q6 e-tron

Audi will eventually release rear-wheel drive (RWD) versions of the EV, contingent on market demand, even though both have an all-wheel drive (AWD) system. A later release will see the unveiling of an RWD Q6 e-tron with a smaller 83 kWh battery pack. In just 21 minutes, the 100 kWh battery pack (total capacity) may be fully charged from 10 to 80 percent thanks to its 800-volt electric architecture, which enables fast charging of up to 270 kW. Audi includes a standard 11 kW AC charger on board that can fully charge the battery in a single night. Later on, the German automaker will also provide its customers with a speedier 22 kW AC charging option.

Additionally, a smart new fast-charging option is available for stations that are limited to 400-volt technology. In this case, the Q6 e-tron may parallel charge with up to 150 kW via bank charging, which splits the 800-volt battery configuration into two batteries with equivalent voltages. Both battery halves are equalized first, and then they are charged simultaneously, depending on the battery’s current level of charge. Similar technology can be seen in contemporary smartphones, which have larger batteries to assure optimal performance and lower the risk of battery damage.

Price And Anticipated India Release

The Audi Q6 and the SQ6 e-tron are expected to arrive in India sometime in 2025, even though they have only been formally confirmed for Germany and a few other European markets up to this point. The starting price of the fully outfitted quattro version is expected to be Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a high-end substitute for vehicles such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Volvo C40 Recharge.

WPL cricketer Ellyse Perry received the same broken glass as the Tata Punch EV window-breaker

In the end, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were victorious in the Tata WPL (Women’s Premier League) 2024. Even though the team played a fantastic game to win the title, one RCB player’s moment from earlier in the month—the six that broke the Tata Punch EV‘s window—became relatively popular online. The Australian athlete has now been given a present that will always remember that day.

How did that come about?

The Punch EV was on display at every game this season since it was the official vehicle of the WPL. Ellyse Perry, a batter for the RCB, smashed a six during a game between the team and the UP Warriorz at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, shattering the rear window glass of the Punch EV.

The footage of Ellyse hitting the ball hard and high into the stands, where it hit the Punch EV‘s back door window, went viral. Ellyse received a unique gift from Tata just before the WPL 2024 championship, and you guessed it—it was the broken glass from the Punch EV placed inside a frame. Tata also tweeted a photo via Punch EVs and complimented Ellyse for her “glass-breaking” performance in the match.

Tata has fulfilled its promise by announcing a donation of the same amount towards the installation of solar panels at Tata Memorial Hospital in Kolkata. This is in line with its earlier pledge that it will donate Rs 5 lakh to a charity cause each time a player hits the display car. It just serves to highlight Ellyse’s unintentional hit all the more because no other player has been able to hit the automobile since.

Price and Competitors

The price range for the Tata Punch EV (ex-showroom Delhi) is Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh. It competes with vehicles like the Citroen eC3 and is both an inexpensive substitute for the Tata Nexon EV and a high-end alternative to the Tata Tiago EV.

Hyundai N Line in India: History, Current Sales, and Prospects

Hyundai N was the name of the performance division that the company founded back in 2012. However, the Korean automaker didn’t make the i30 N, its first Hyundai N product, public until 2016. And it wasn’t until the Hyundai i20 N Line debuted in 2021 that Hyundai introduced the N Line, a scaled-down version of its N division, to India. With the introduction of the Hyundai Creta N Line SUV, the company has now given its best-selling vehicle in the nation the N Line treatment.

Hyundai provided some statistics regarding the performance of the N Line model lineup in India thus far at the launch presentation for the sporty SUV variant. An overview of the Hyundai N Line brand’s history in the nation is shown below:

Which Hyundai models are part of the N Line?

Hyundai‘s N division produces appropriate, highly performance cars with distinct powertrains and notable changes for international markets. But for the average Hyundai customer, they can be a little pricy, so the automaker debuted the N Line series. In addition to minor visual adjustments for a sportier look, models bearing the N Line name come with the most potent engine option that is available for the standard Hyundai model.

The Venue N Line sub-4m SUV, the newly introduced Creta N Line SUV, and the i20 N Line premium hatchback comprise the Hyundai N Line lineup in India. Only a turbo-petrol engine with a choice of manual or automatic transmission is available for these vehicles. For the driving aficionados, Hyundai even equipped the i20 N Line and Venue N Line with more aggressive suspension setups and louder exhaust systems.

N Line Models Account for One in Five Hyundai Turbo-petrol Sales

N Line Models Sold

The business disclosed that sales of its turbo-petrol powertrains account for twenty percent of its total sales since the launch of the Hyundai N Line portfolio, which mostly consists of sporty models. Demand for the i20 and Venue alone is included in this. It is noteworthy that the regular Venue receives a turbo-petrol engine option, but the normal Hyundai i20 facelift does not, as of the 2023 facelift. The same 1-liter T-GDi engine, available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, powers both models’ 120 PS and 172 Nm.

Sold more than 22,000 N Line Models

That’s a reasonable total for the Hyundai mass-market performance offerings, considering that these N Line cars are priced higher than the corresponding normal versions. 13 percent of N Line customers were women, according to another statistic, suggesting that Hyundai’s sporty vehicles appeal to a wider audience than just traditional auto aficionados.

Though it would be tough to declare any of the performance-oriented versions of mass-market vehicles successful, several brands have tried to carve out a space for themselves in the Indian car industry. Take the Fiat Abarth items or the JTP vehicles from Tata. Since the Polo and Vento, Volkswagen has produced “GT” variants; however, unlike the Hyundai N Line cars, they were merely the variants with more powerful engines and without much difference from the ordinary models.

A Faithful Following

Hyundai disclosed that forty percent of N Line purchasers were Hyundai‘s recurring clients. This may be taken to indicate that a large number of Hyundai vehicle owners were keen to purchase a vehicle that paired the performance of the Korean automaker’s turbo-petrol engines with more sportiness and visual presence.

Additionally, 82% of N Line purchasers select the top-tier, fully loaded model. This shows that, despite its higher price tags, Hyundai has discovered a sweet spot where its entire product, including its features, performance, and looks, has a significant appeal.

What Does N Line In India Have Up Next?

N Line In India

Well, Hyundai has already introduced the Ioniq 5 to its N performance lineup, which is all electric. Although the hefty price tag of the highly remarkable Ioniq 5 N may prevent it from arriving in India, the facelifted electric crossover will likely be available in this country as well. It now comes with a N Line variation. Hyundai chose to let the Grand i10 Nios concentrate on comfort and cost rather than testing the waters with an entry-level N Line lineup that included turbo-petrol versions a few years ago. We hope Hyundai has already plans for the Verna sedan and the Tucson mid-size SUV, as they are the final two contenders suitable for the N Line makeover.

Real-world Fuel Efficiency Comparison: Honda Elevate CVT vs Maruti Grand Vitara AT

The Maruti Grand Vitara is immediately rivaled by the 2023 arrival of Honda‘s all-new small SUV, the Elevate. A 1.5-liter gasoline engine with natural aspiration powers both cars. To determine which small SUV is more fuel-efficient in the real world, we compared their actual fuel usage. Let’s look at the powertrain characteristics of both compact SUVs before moving on to the test findings. (Honda vs Maruti )

Tested Fuel Efficiency (City)12.60 km13.72 kmpl
Tested Fuel Efficiency (Highway)16.40 kmpl19.05 km

 Honda Elevate

Maruti Grand Vitara’s power and torque output are inferior to that of the Honda Elevate. But thanks to its mild hybrid technology, the Grand Vitara has an edge that yields higher stated fuel efficiency ratings as well as better practical economy. Between these two cars, there is a little over a km/l difference in fuel efficiency in urban circumstances. Still, when compared to the Honda Elevate, the Grand Vitara has almost 3 km/l more fuel efficiency when driving on a highway.

It’s also crucial to remember that, although the Grand Vitara’s test efficiency narrowly misses the advertised amount, the Elevate’s highway mileage somewhat exceeds it.

Honda Elevate CVT14.25 km15.25 kmpl13.37 km
Maruti Grand Vitara AT15.95 kmpl17.36 kmpl14.75 kmpl

Maruti Grand Vitara

In all three driving scenarios, the Maruti Grand Vitara comes out on top once more. The mileage numbers of both automobiles differ by slightly more than 1 km/l if your driving is mostly in cities. But when driving on a highway, this disparity rises to almost 2 km/l. There is less than a 2-kilometer per hour difference even in mixed driving circumstances.

Notice: An automobile’s fuel efficiency can change based on your driving habits, the status of the roads, and the car itself. (Honda vs Maruti)

Key Takeaway

Given that the Maruti SUV is less powerful than the Honda SUV, the Grand Vitara is therefore more economical than the Elevate. The Grand Vitara is a great option if fuel economy is important to you. You can choose the Elevate instead if you choose reasonable power above fuel economy.

Real-world Performance Comparison between Honda Elevate and Honda City CVTs

In 2023, Honda’s eagerly awaited small SUV, the Elevate, made its debut in India. It has the same base and powerplant as the Honda City, therefore many of its mechanical components are similar. We recently evaluated the practicality of these Honda twins by driving the automatic CVT versions of both of these vehicles. Let’s test the speed differential. Let’s look at their engine specs before moving on to the performance results:

Powertrain Details

SpecificationsHonda ElevateHonda City
Engine1.5 liter naturally aspirated (NA) Petrol
Power121 PS
Torque145 Nm
TransmissionCVT

Although both of these cars have the option of a manual transmission, we will only discuss the performance of the CVT variants that we tested.

Acceleration Test

TestsHonda Elevate CVTHonda City CVT
0-100 kmph12.35 seconds10.94 seconds
Quarter Mile18.64 seconds at 125.11 kmph17.87 seconds at 130.39 kmph
Kickdown (20-80kmph)7.2 seconds6.36 seconds

The Honda City outperformed the Honda Elevate by 1.4 seconds in the 0-100 kmph sprint, while the gap was less than 1 second in the quarter mile. Again, there was less than a second’s difference in their timings during the kickdown from 20 to 80 kmph. The Honda Elevate weighs more than 100 kg more than the City, based on the available kerb weight statistics, which probably explains why the City was faster. The sedan’s faster performance over the SUV is probably also due to its relatively more aerodynamic shape.

Braking Test

TestsHonda Elevate CVTHonda City CVT
100-0 kmph37.98 metres41.88 metres
80-0 kmph23.90 metres26.50 metres

The Elevate stops about 4 meters faster than the Honda City while stopping from 100 kmph to a standstill. Honda’s SUV outperforms the City by 2.6 meters even while stopping at 80 kmph. The only disc brakes available on the Elevate and the City are in the front. On 17-inch alloy wheels, the Honda Elevate has wider 215-section tires, while the Honda City has comparatively smaller 185-section tires on 16-inch alloy wheels.

Key Points

Thus, the Honda City accelerates more quickly than the Honda Elevate, but the Elevate stops better than the City. They may operate differently even when they have the same engine and transmission because of differences in their weights and wheel diameters.

Note of disclaimer: The performance numbers are subject to change based on the driver, road conditions, and weather.

What Could Have Been Better About The Creta N Line N10?

Creta N Line N10

The N10 is a rather well-packaged model, but given that its costs are well above Rs 20 lakh, it should have benefitted from a few extra high-end features like a motorized co-driver seat and a heads-up display. That said, the N10 promises to deliver a sporty N Line feel on the well-liked Hyundai SUV, combined with the best comforts and safety technology.

N8

Despite having a lot of technology, it lacks several unique characteristics. Select only if you can forgo the flagship experience in favor of the more affordable, sportier Creta with the MT.

N10

If you want the full N Line-specific experience from the SUV and would rather have extra safety features, go for it.
