Exclusive: Details Of BYD Atto 3’s Two New Lower-end Variants Unveiled Before July 10 Launch in India

  • New entry-level variations for the BYD Atto 3 are termed Dynamic and Premium, while Superior will be the name of the top-spec model.
  • Features like an electric tailgate and LED headlights that adjust will no longer be available on the Dynamic model.
  • It will also come with ambient lighting that is only one color and fewer speakers.
  • With a 50 kWh battery pack, the base model is expected to have an ARAI range of 468 km.
  • The 60 kWh battery pack for the other two versions is supposed to have a 521 km range.
  • On July 10, the new versions’ prices will be released.

New, less expensive BYD Atto 3 versions are coming soon, according to BYD India. They will go on sale on July 10. Now, ahead of its release, we have access to unique sources for information on the updated Atto 3. The Atto 3, which was previously only sold in one variant, is now available in three: Dynamic, Premium, and Superior. Let’s examine the exact details and attributes of every new version:

Powertrain

The e-motor, which still produces the same amount of power and torque as the top variation, has not changed, but the base-spec Dynamic variant of the Atto 3 will now have a smaller 50 kWh battery pack. The range of this new base model is 468 km (ARAI). With a stated range of 521 km, the mid-spec model has the same battery pack as the top trim.

Battery Pack50 kWh60 kWh60 kWh

Torque310 Nm310 Nm310 Nm
Claimed Range (ARAI)468 km521 km521 km

BYD’s Blade Battery, which can be charged from 0 to 80 percent using a DC charger in about 50 minutes, is included with the Atto 3. While the Premium and Superior variants allow an 80 kW charging option, the Dynamic variant only supports a 70 kW DC charging option.

Features And Safety

The Dynamic edition which is less expensive will be lacking features such as a powered tailgate, ambient lighting with many colors, and an eight-speaker sound system instead of just six speakers. ADAS (currently available only on the top model) and adaptive LED headlights will also be absent.

Nonetheless, a panoramic sunroof, a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat, 60:40 split rear seats, a 5-inch digital driver’s display, and a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be standard on all three versions.

All versions have seven airbags as standard, an electronic stability program (ESP), hill descent control, a 360-degree camera, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

Costs and Competitors

On July 10, BYD is scheduled to disclose the costs of the new Atto 3 models. Atto 3 prices currently vary from Rs 33.99 lakh to Rs 34.49 lakh (ex-showroom). However, with the release of these additional variations, the Atto 3 should start to sell for less than Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

This increases its competitiveness against the MG ZS EV, the soon-to-be Tata Curvv EV, the Maruti Suzuki eVX, and the Hyundai Creta EV.

  • As usual, Maruti Suzuki continued to lead the auto industry in June 2024, selling more than 1.37 lakh vehicles—more than Hyundai, Tata, and Mahindra combined. While the company’s demand increased by about 3% year over year, its month-after-month sales were mostly unchanged as of May 2024.
  • In June 2024, Hyundai ranked as the second best-selling automobile brand, having shipped over 50,000 units in the previous month. The Korean carmaker saw steady demand in sales both year over year (YoY) and month over month (MoM).

  • Mahindra was the only carmaker to achieve 40,000 sales last month, aside from Tata. Mahindra’s annual sales increased by almost 23% despite a fall in MoM sales of more than 2%.
  • In June 2024, Toyota sold over 25,000 cars, with the largest MoM and YoY growth of over 38% and roughly 41%, respectively.
  • In June 2024, Kia sold more than 1,300 vehicles than it did in May 2024. Additionally, the Korean carmaker reported an annual gain of around 10%.

  • June 2024 saw MG maintain a steady monthly demand with total sales surpassing 4,600 units, but its yearly sales decreased by more than 9 percent.
  • Over 3,500 Renault vehicles were distributed in June. The French brand saw negative growth in monthly sales of 4% and yearly sales of roughly 35% (the highest of all the automakers here).
  • With slightly more than 3,000 units sold in June 2024, Volkswagen crossed the sales threshold and ranked tenth in the June sales table. Despite selling 200 more automobiles in June than in May, the company’s year-over-year sales decreased by about 4%.

Additionally, an optional 11 kW wall box charger and a 7.4 kW AC charger were included; the latter allowed the car to be fully charged in 12.9 hours.

Features And Safety Tech

Jaguar had fitted the I-Pace with a fully digital driver’s display, a 10-inch touchscreen, a 5.5-inch display for the temperature controls, and 16-way power, heated, and cooled memory front seats.
