For the third year in a row, Nissan has exported more than 30,000 units of the sub-4 million dollar SUV, marking a new milestone for the model. It enabled Nissan to sell more than a million Magnites in India in the first half of 2024.
A Look At The Numbers
For the past three fiscal years, Nissan has routinely shipped over 30,000 Magnite units, as the table below illustrates:
Domestic Sales | ||||
FY20 | FY21 | FY22 | FY23 | Total |
9569 | 33905 | 32546 | 30146 | 106166 |
The Magnite was introduced in the latter part of 2020, which helps to explain the sales figures of less than 10,000 units. Sales of the SUV decreased over the FY22–2023 year as well.
An Overview of Nissan Magnite
Nissan’s entry-level vehicle in the sub-4-meter SUV market, the Magnite, debuted as a gasoline-only variant in December 2020. There are four general varieties to choose from: XE, XL, XV, and XV Premium.
Options for the Engine and Gearbox
It is equipped with the next two engine options:
Specification | 1-litre N/A Petrol | 1-litre Turbo-petrol |
Power | 72 PS | 100 PS |
Torque | 96 Nm | Up to 160 Nm |
Transmission | 5-speed MT, 5-speed AMT | 5-speed MT, CVT |
The turbo unit produces 152 Nm when paired with the CVT automated gearbox. Nissan just introduced a 1-liter naturally aspirated engine with a 5-speed AMT option for the Magnite.
Features And Safety
Nissan equips the Magnite with a 7-inch digital driver’s display, wireless phone charging, an 8-inch touchscreen, and rear vent auto air conditioning. The sub-4m SUV has a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), and dual front airbags for added safety.
Costs And Competitors
A few spy photos of the redesigned SUV, which is anticipated to go on sale in the second half of 2024, indicate that Nissan has started work on the Magnite. The Nissan Magnite is currently available across India for between Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 11.27 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Citroen C3, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, and the soon-to-be Skoda sub-4m SUV. Another option for sub-4 meter crossovers like the Maruti Fronx and Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is the Magnite.
