How to Renew an Expired RC
Obtaining a Registration Certificate (RC) holds the same significance as obtaining a driver’s license. If your registration is not renewed on time, driving a car becomes dangerous on Indian highways. An RC is a certified document that certifies your car’s permanent registration with the Indian government. It functions as a crucial document attesting to your car’s current registration.
According to the (MV) Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, the owner of a motor vehicle must obtain a (RC) Registration Certificate if they live in India. This act prohibits anyone from using a motor vehicle without a registration certificate on Indian roadways.
A vehicle’s registration certificate (RC) is valid for 15 years after it is issued, after which it can be extended for a further 5 years. Additionally, you can obtain an impermanent registration certificate, which has a one-month expiration date and cannot be renewed after that. Every car in every state or union territory is built in accordance with the rules outlined in the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988.
The steps involved in renewing the Registration Certificate Obtaining the RC is a pretty straightforward process. To complete the Form 25, simply fill in all the required columns. The original RC, a current pollution certificate, and an insurance certificate should be included. After that, the car is brought in front of the registering authority for inspection. Reregistering the car requires a small cost that must be paid at the cash desk; a receipt will be provided. The new registration certificate is then issued by the department.
Can we register the car after it has expired? Yes, even after it has expired, we may still obtain the RC. In the event that you do not receive a citation for a terminated registration, you may renew the vehicle’s registration online within ninety days or even six months after the registration has expired. Your expiration month won’t change. You can check the status of your RC by visiting the www.txdmv.gov/track webpage.
What happens if you drive about with an expired registration? It is crucial that you renew your expired RC as soon as possible. You will face penalties if the traffic police catch you driving without a registration certificate or one that has expired. Most states will restrict the mobility of your vehicle, and the penalty will not impact the cost of future auto insurance.
After 15 years, is it possible to renew the RC? Absolutely, as a vehicle’s registration certificate is valid for 15 years from the date it is granted, it can be renewed even after that time. After it expires, it can be renewed for an additional five years.
