Maruti Jimny Extreme: Enhanced to Appear Larger and More Vibrant

This customized Maruti Jimny has a snorkel in addition to chunky off-road tires.

The five-door Maruti Jimny was first offered in India as a useful substitute for the Mahindra Thar. Despite having full-time four-wheel drive (4WD) as standard, Maruti’s off-road SUV has drawn criticism for being less powerful and smaller than the three-door Thar. We recently came across a specially designed Maruti Jimny that seems to solve the size problem. Let’s examine it more closely as it appears in these four pictures.

In addition, a snorkel has been added to the entire A-pillar of this Jimny, improving its ability to wade through water and slush, even in deeper pools than the standard Maruti Jimny. We can see the enormous set of 15-inch high profile off-road tires, which have a width of 315 mm, superior in profile. The wheel’s overall height, measured from the bottom to the top, is almost 35 inches, or 7.72 inches higher than the height of the tires that come with the standard Jimny. In addition to offering better traction and contact in difficult conditions, these off-road tires with deep grooves are more resilient than standard tires for demanding off-road use.

The Jimny’s tailgate is even equipped with an extra wheel sporting customized rims and tires, adding to the hefty rear end of the SUV. Everything about the design is the same except for the new wheel.

What Drives The Jimny-spec India?

A 1.5-liter petrol engine with 105 PS and 134 Nm powers the Maruti Jimny. Either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission is attached to this unit. The drivetrain comes equipped with four-wheel drive (4WD) as standard. It’s unknown what modifications have been made to the engine of this custom-spec Jimny.

The factory specifications The Maruti Jimny comes equipped with features including cruise control, automatic climate control, and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wifi Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold and descent control, and a rearview camera all ensure safety.

Price Range and Competitors

The pricing of the Maruti Jimny in India ranges from Rs 12.74 lakh to Rs 15.05 lakh. It competes against the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha, two other sub-4m off-road vehicles.

Maruti Brezza Retains Only Higher-End Models of Mild Hybrid Technology

The SUV’s gasoline-MT versions with the mild-hybrid technology now boast a stated mileage value of 19.89 km/l, up from 17.38 km/l.

Why Is The Reintroduction Important?

The SUV’s fuel efficiency numbers for the petrol-MT combination had dropped by over 3 km/l, to 17.38 km/l, when the mild hybrid configuration was abandoned. The ZXi and ZXi+ MT versions of the SUV now boast a claimed mileage value of 19.89 km/l, an increase of slightly more than 2.5 km/l, thanks to the reinstatement of the mild hybrid technology. Even without the mild hybrid technology, the manual gearbox-equipped LXi and VXi models with lower specs still get 17.38 km/l.

Still A Petrol-only Offering

The SUV’s 1.5-liter normally aspirated gasoline engine (103 PS/137 Nm) is paired with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission as part of the mild hybrid arrangement. Maruti also provides the same engine with a 5-speed MT model that has an optional CNG kit, producing 88 PS and 121.5 Nm. The CNG version’s stated fuel economy is still 25.51 km/kg.

Pricing Range and Competitors

Retail prices for the Brezza from Maruti range from Rs 8.29 lakh to Rs 14.14 lakh. The SUV competes with the Maruti Fronx sub-4m crossover SUV, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Tata Nexon.
