 Maruti Grand Vitara

  • As the best-selling small SUV in the nation, the Hyundai Creta maintained its dominance. In March 2024, sales of the facelifted Creta reached close to 16,500 units, with a nearly 8 percent increase in monthly sales. Even though Creta’s year-over-year (YoY) market share decreased by more than 9%, its sales in March 2024 were still almost 3,900 units more than its six-month average.
  • The Maruti Grand Vitara was the only small SUV to sell 10,000 units or more after the Creta. In March, Maruti continued to meet monthly demand for the Grand Vitara by shipping over 11,000 of the vehicle

India saw sales of over 46,000 compact SUVs in January, with a growth rate of more than 12 percent month over month (MoM) for this segment. The Maruti Grand Vitara was the best-selling compact SUV in its class, with the Hyundai Creta coming in second. Principal Learnings

January 2024 saw nearly 13,400 Maruti Grand Vitaras sold, making it the best-selling compact SUV. Along with having the greatest market share in the class, the Grand Vitara has also shown the greatest MoM increase of 92% Maruti Grand Surpassed Hyundai.

 Hyundai Creta

  • Hyundai’s Creta, which retailed 13,212 units in January, is the only SUV to surpass the 10,000 unit sales milestone, having previously only gone past the Grand Vitara. Even though monthly sales increased by almost 43%, Creta’s market share fell by more than 13% on an annual basis.
  • Only about 6,400 people purchased Kia Seltos in January 2024, a decrease of almost 3,500 units from December 2023. Sales of the car rapidly declined. Compared to the previous six months’ average sales, its January 2024 sales were about 4,500 units lower.
  • With more than 5,543 sold, the Toyota Hyryder, the stablemate of the Maruti Grand Vitara, ranked fourth in the sales chart. Over 11 percent gain in MoM was recorded by the Toyota SUV.

 Honda Elevate

  • Sales of the Honda Elevate saw a MoM gain of more than 4.5 percent in January 2024, with over 4,500 units sold. Honda’s all-new Elevate was introduced in September 2023, and as of right now, it has a 9.8% market share.
  • In January 2024, sales of the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq saw MoM losses of approximately 56% and 48%, respectively. Last month, the Taigun and Kushaq sold more than 2,300 units combined.

 MG Astor

  • MG Astor’s monthly sales have increased slightly, by about 18%, but they are still not enough to surpass 1,000 units sold.

2024 MG Astor Released: More Economical And Technologically Advanced Than Before

With a starting price of Rs 9.98 lakh for the new base-spec ‘Sprint’ variant, the MG Astor is now the most reasonably priced small SUV available.

MG has completely redesigned the Astor variation selection, replacing the Style version—which was previously available—with the less expensive Sprint model. The Astor is currently the most reasonably priced compact SUV in India, with a starting price that is Rs 84,000 less than it was previously. Additionally, the new Shine and Select SUV variations have replaced the Super and Smart models, and the Astor’s Sharp and Savvy trims now include a “Pro” suffix indicating that the Astor has more features than previously.

The upgraded Savvy Pro trim of the Astor is now priced at Rs 17.90 lakh, which is Rs 78,000 cheaper than the top-spec turbo-petrol Savvy variant, which was previously priced at Rs 18.68 lakh.

Updates for the MG Astor in 2024 bring additional amenities like wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, and an auto-dimming IRVM. With Smart 2.0 UI, the 10.1-inch infotainment system—which is now standard on all MG SUV models—has been improved. It provides more capabilities for connected cars, like as voice requests for the weather, news, calculator, and more with the Jio Voice Recognition technology. The infotainment system now offers supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Astor also has a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, automatic climate control, and a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat. Up to six airbags, hill ascent and descent control, heated ORVMs, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)—which include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, and lane-keeping/departure assist—all contribute to passenger safety.
