Tata Motors is planning to invest Rs. 9,000 crore for a new plant in Tamil Nadu
When it comes to the sales of passenger vehicles, Tata Motors is among the biggest automakers in India. Three of the company’s seven manufacturing facilities in India are now in operation for the manufacture of passenger cars. To establish a new factory in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, the automaker has now inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government.
Regarding The New Plant
Although there are few details about the new facility’s location and scale, Tata has committed to investing Rs 9,000 crore over the next five years to build a new manufacturing facility. According to Tata, the state would gain up to 5,000 additional jobs as a result of this new plant, either directly or indirectly.
This Memorandum of Understanding was signed by V Vishnu, IAS, MD (managing director) & CEO, Guidance, and PB Balaji, Group CFO, Tata Motors, in the presence of MK Stalin, CM (chief minister), Tamil Nadu. Additionally, Tata has not stated if the production of commercial or passenger vehicles will take place at this new plant. We anticipate that these specifics will become public eventually.
Advantages For Tata
Tata is always competing with Hyundai for second place and is currently ranked among the top three automakers in India. The Sanand factory is currently on track to achieve an annual manufacturing capacity of over 10 lakh units with its expansion. Tata can achieve even greater success if the new plant is used to produce passenger cars. Apart from helping the Indian carmaker sustain reduced wait times, the higher production could potentially position Tata for market share gains and a comfortable lead over Hyundai.

Mahindra XUV300 Facelift: Is It Better to Wait For It or Choose Among Its Rivals?
The introduction of the facelifted Mahindra XUV300 is rapidly approaching, with an anticipated release in the upcoming months. The petrol and diesel engine options will still be available, but this makeover will bring several new features, a redesigned interior, and a fresh appearance. But with so many alternative vehicles in the subcompact SUV class, is it better to pass on the XUV300 facelift and go with one of its competitors? Let’s investigate.
Model | Price (ex-showroom) |
2024 Mahindra XUV300 | Rs 8.5 lakh onwards (Expected) |
Tata Nexon | Rs 8.15 lakh to Rs 15.80 lakh |
Kia Sonet | Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 15.60 lakh |
Hyundai Venue | Rs 7.94 lakh to Rs 13.48 lakh |
Maruti Brezza | Rs 8.34 lakh to Rs 14.14 lakh |
Renault Kiger | Rs 6 lakh to Rs 11.23 lakh |
Nissan Magnite | Rs 6 lakh to Rs 11.27 lakh |
Get the Tata Nexon for its premium features, powertrains, and looks
Among the most contemporary and cutting-edge SUVs in this class is the redesigned Tata Nexon. It looks more upscale thanks to its sleek, contemporary design, which also includes an improved cabin over the previous model. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, wireless phone charging, six airbags, heated front seats, and 360-degree camera are some of its features. The Nexon is available with both gasoline and diesel engines; for the former, a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic gearbox) is now an option.
Hyundai Venue: Invest in a sportier version and premium features at a reasonable price
In terms of features, the Hyundai Venue has lagged behind the revised Nexon due to the absence of features like larger screens, ventilated front seats, and a 360-degree camera. However, with its sophisticated styling and choice of gasoline or diesel engines, it continues to be a premium offering. In addition to having camera-based ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) features, the Venue’s top-spec model is more than Rs 2 lakh less expensive than the Nexon. Along with all of this, the Venue is also available in a sporty N Line edition that has internal and external cosmetic upgrades.
Get the Kia Sonet for its excellent features, ADAS, and reliable diesel automatic
The Kia Sonet has even more features than the Nexon, making it the most feature-rich alternative in this category. It has an automatic climate control system, ventilated front seats, a 4-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a wireless phone charger, and a touchscreen infotainment system. It has a 360-degree camera for safety, but the most significant addition to its list of safety features is ADAS, which includes functions like auto emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist. Similar to the Venue, the Sonet is available with both gasoline and diesel engines. The diesel engine has the advantage of a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, which provides a more seamless driving experience than the Nexon’s AMT.
Maruti Brezza: Invest in it for its vast service network, bigger petrol engine, and space
The Maruti Brezza dominated the subcompact SUV market for a long time before it underwent an update that made it more upscale and hence more expensive. The SUV from the Indian automaker is conventionally styled and comes with no unique features. What this SUV does have going for it, though, is room inside the cabin for five people, a larger 1.5-liter gasoline engine, and peace of mind because of Maruti’s extensive network of service providers. Apart from a feature list that only includes standard items like a sunroof, 360-degree camera, and 9-inch touchscreen, it also has poor cabin quality and no diesel engine option.
Buy Nissan Magnite & Renault Kiger if you want decent features, petrol powertrains, and affordability
The pricing of the Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger is their main selling point. The starting price of both of these SUVs is Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom), which puts them about Rs 2 lakh less expensive than other SUVs in the class. The top-spec models of these SUVs are priced at less than Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). These reasonably priced sub-4 million SUVs, however, lack features like a larger touchscreen, a wireless phone charger, ventilated seats, and increased safety measures. It is important to note, however, that the Magnite and Kiger received 4-star safety ratings according to the previous GNCAP crash test standards. Both SUVs have 1-liter normally aspirated and turbo-petrol engines under the hood, and manual and automatic transmission options are available. However, none of them provide a diesel unit.
Mahindra XUV300 2024: Hold for its innovative design, roomy cabin, diesel engine, and affordable price
Although there hasn’t been an official preview for the updated XUV300, numerous times its test mule has been sighted doing trials while disguised. The Mahindra XUV300 will receive a new and more contemporary exterior with this facelift, and the cabin will also receive this update. It is now among the roomiest SUVs in its class, and the facelifted model will not change that. We anticipate Mahindra introducing new amenities, such as larger 10.25-inch screens, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, and enhancements to its array of safety features, to remain competitive.
The cabin of the Mahindra XUV400 was utilized as an example. Moreover, the facelifted XUV300 will retain its diesel and turbo-petrol powertrains, offering both manual and automatic transmission choices. Mahindra may still provide both, albeit with an AMT rather than the conventional automatic transmission seen in the majority of its competitors. However, in comparison to its competitors, the redesigned XUV300 is anticipated to have a compelling value proposition.

exclusive to the DCT versions
The dual-camera dashcam adds nearly the same functionality to the otherwise nearly identical Creta N Line, which is based on the higher-spec versions of the standard Creta. Ventilated front seats, an all-around camera, and advanced driver assistance systems are shared by the two models; however, the top-of-the-line N10 trim level is the only one with these amenities. Take note that the addition of ADAS means that the N10 DCT model has adaptive cruise control rather than standard cruise control.
Only Turbo-petrol Powertrain
Hyundai is selling it with one turbo-petrol engine and two different transmission choices, which are detailed below:
Specification | 1.5-litre Turbo-petrol |
Power | 160 PS |
Torque | 253 Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed MT, 7-speed DCT |
Claimed Fuel Efficiency | 18 kmpl, 18.2 kmpl |
What’s the price?
The Hyundai Creta N Line, a fair upgrade over the standard Creta, has an amazing starting price range of Rs 16.82 lakh to Rs 20.30 lakh (ex-showroom nationwide). It competes with the VW Taigun GT, higher-spec versions of the Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor, and the Kia Seltos GTX+ and X-Line.

Please take note that the sales data for the Tata Nexon EV is included in the total sales figure.
