These Were January 2024’s Top 10 Best-Selling Automobiles
After a decline in sales at the end of 2023, the Indian automotive industry saw a spike in month-over-month (MoM) demand in the first month of 2024. The demand for almost all of the cars on this list increased positively year over year (YoY). Below is a thorough analysis of the sales performance of each model in January 2024

- The top spot on the January 2024 sales list went to the Maruti Baleno, with around 20,000 units sold. While its demand nearly doubled during the MoM spike, its year-over-year (YoY) figure increased by 20%.
- The next three best-selling models in January 2024 were the Maruti Wagon R, Tata Nexon, and Tata Punch, with sales ranging from 17,000 to 18,000 units each. - The next two cars on the January 2024 list were the Maruti Swift and Maruti Brezza, with sales figures ranging from 15,000 to 16,000 units. The hatchback saw a seven percent YoY decline, but the Brezza saw a seven percent YoY increase.
- Both the Mahindra Scorpio (which comprises the Classic and Scorpio N models) and the Maruti Ertiga saw YoY sales increases of more than 50%.
- The Maruti Fronx makes it onto this list with almost 13,600 units shipped. Its MoM number increased by over four thousand units.
