Seven Essential Details Regarding The New All-Electric Porsche Macan
There are two powertrain options available for the Porsche Macan EV, with a WLTP claimed range of up to 613 kilometers.
Just a few days ago, the all-new Porsche Macan car made its debut worldwide and is presently offered for purchase in India. There is now an all-electric version of this Porsche entry-level luxury performance SUV available. Not only is it the first electric SUV made by Porsche, but it’s also the first EV built on an already-existing model range. Everything you need to know about the new Porsche Macan EV is provided here.
A Brand-New Platform
The Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800V architecture serves as the foundation for the Porsche Macan car EV. This architecture serves as the foundation for the first Porsche SUV, the Macan EV.
Features Inspired by Taycan Design
The Porsche Macan EV is shaped and sculpted similarly to its ICE (internal combustion engine) predecessor, but it also takes cues from Porsche’s first fully electric vehicle, the Taycan. The Taycan is reminiscent of certain design elements, such as the wraparound LED taillights and four LED DRL configurations.
With the optional Matrix feature, the split headlight system with the main headlamps positioned lower in the bumper has been integrated. The alloy wheels, which measure up to 22 inches, add even more to its sporty appearance. Dimensionally speaking, the Macan EV is 4784 mm long, 1938 mm wide, and 1622 mm tall. In addition to having shorter overhangs, it has a longer wheelbase than the Macan, which is already in production.
With an 84-liter larger trunk space and a 540-liter boot-loading capability, the Macan EV also provides greater utility.
Cabin and Amenities
The dual-tone black and beige dashboard of the Porsche Macan Car EV is straight out of the facelifted Cayenne. Porsche claims that the front passenger and driver now sit up to 28 mm lower than they did previously. In addition to acting as warning and alarm lights, the ambient light strip that runs along the dashboard and on the door panels also functions as a communication light.
The flat black panel spanning the dashboard of the electric Macan houses a triple-screen arrangement that includes a 10.9-inch touchscreen entertainment system, a 12.6-inch digital driver’s display, and a 10.9-inch front passenger display. You can stream videos and use several third-party apps on the Android Automotive operating system that powers the infotainment system.
Range & Performance
There are 100 kWh of total battery pack capacity in the Porsche Macan EV, of which 95 kWh are usable. Dual electric motors installed on the front and rear axles are coupled to the battery pack. Porsche introduced it in two models: the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo. The table below lists each variant’s features.
Specifications | Macan 4 | Macan Turbo |
Battery Pack | 100kWh (95 kWh Usable) | |
Power | 408 PS | 639 PS |
Torque | 650 Nm | 1130 Nm |
Drivetrain | AWD | AWD |
Range (WLTP combined) | 613 km | 591 km |
Acceleration (0-100 km) | 5.2 seconds | 3.3 seconds |
Top Speed | 220 km |
|
Fast Charging Capability
The majority of competing premium electric SUVs cannot match the Macan EV’s 270 kW DC rapid charging capability, which allows the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 21 minutes. The high-voltage switch in the battery splits the entire 800-volt battery into two 400-volt segments at 400-volt charging stations, allowing charging at up to 135 kW. Additionally capable of 11 kW AC home charging is Porsche’s electric SUV.
Managing And Aerodynamics
Porsche is now selling the Macan with up to five degrees of rear-wheel steering for the first time. This helps to improve driving stability at greater speeds in addition to reducing the turning radius.
The Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) system, which includes air curtains beneath the headlight module, active cooling flaps on the front air intakes, and an adaptive rear spoiler, is also included on the Macan EV. Its alloy wheels aren’t wrapped with plastic, but their design has been improved for improved ventilation nonetheless. The aforementioned characteristics collectively enhance aerodynamic efficiency, a critical factor in optimizing an electric vehicle’s range. The drag coefficient of the Porsche Macan EV is a remarkable 0.25.
The Macan EV’s two-valve dampers and active suspension management, which electronically regulates the damping, improve handling even further. High suspension travel is provided by the air suspensions of the Macan EV. This highlights the distinctions between different driving modes and adjusts for comfort or sportiness based on the specific road circumstances.
Rates and Competitors
For the quicker Macan Turbo EV, Porsche has already begun taking reservations in India; ex-showroom pricing starts at Rs 1.65 crore. The pricing of the Macan 4 model has not yet been revealed by the German performance brand. The second half of 2024 is when Macan EV deliveries are expected to begin. Although it doesn’t have any direct competitors in India, Porsche’s electric SUV serves as a performance substitute for larger luxury electric SUVs like the Mercedes EQE SUV and Audi Q8 e-tron.

Despite having full-time four-wheel drive (4WD) as standard, Maruti’s off-road SUV has drawn criticism for being less powerful and smaller than the three-door Thar. We recently came across a specially designed Maruti Jimny that seems to solve the size problem. Let’s examine it more closely as it appears in these four pictures.

The Jimny’s tailgate is even equipped with an extra wheel sporting customized rims and tires, adding to the hefty rear end of the SUV. Everything about the design is the same except for the new wheel.
What Drives The Jimny-spec India?
A 1.5-liter petrol engine with 105 PS and 134 Nm powers the Maruti Jimny. Either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission is attached to this unit. The drivetrain comes equipped with four-wheel drive (4WD) as standard. It’s unknown what modifications have been made to the engine of this custom-spec Jimny.
