Toyota offers specialized conversion kits for the Hilux in India through partnerships with a number of outside organizations.
One pickup truck that is well-known for its sturdy construction is the Toyota Hilux. The Hilux has exceptional off-road capabilities and is based on the Fortuner’s ladder-on-frame chassis. It is useful for a variety of uses due to its large cargo bed and overall size. Toyota has worked with a number of outside organizations to offer a variety of conversion choices that can alter the truck for specialized uses. Details about six of these operation-based Hilux adjustments are now available and are listed below.
Vehicle maintenance and disaster management
Rapid Hilux Intervention
At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, Toyota recently unveiled the Rapid Intervention, a version of the Hilux designed for disaster management. It is designed specifically to give emergency relief where the big fire vehicles are unable to.
Toyota and New Age Fire Fighting Company Ltd. collaborated to provide this Hilux variant with modifications. The pickup’s cargo bed has undergone extensive modification to make room for the water pump, hoses, traffic cones, and other essential firefighting equipment. It also comes with a stretcher and ladder on top for use in an emergency. This Hilux variant costs more than Rs 70 lakh in total, making its total cost more than Rs 1 crore.
For Automobile Maintenanceb
This Hilux pickup has been altered to function as a mobile service provider. Customized to provide mobile and doorstep vehicle maintenance services, it was developed in collaboration with Oil Lube Systems Pvt Ltd. In addition to a roof rack to hold additional parts, the cargo space behind is built to hold all the tools needed for upkeep and repairs.
Mining and Building
Additionally, the Hilux can be altered for use on the surface as well as below. The front windscreen of the Toyota mining truck is protected by an exoskeleton support frame, which also adds to the cabin’s protection. This is an important factor to take into account because the vehicle is also used for moving defense personnel as well as for the transportation of products and services.
However, the FDV (Field Diagnosis Vehicle) version can also be used as a carrier for supplies and spares movements at remote construction sites. On-site machinery maintenance is another use for the Hilux FDV. The sample is equipped with a sizable toolbox, and the back cabin box may be opened to function as a shelf-filled shed.
Banking & Security
The Hilux can also be used for security tasks like recovery, patrolling, and assistance. Its cargo bay can be transformed into a windowed personnel transporting structure. The Chandigarh police recently added the Toyota Hilux to their inventory of vehicles.
It is also possible to convert the Hilux’s cargo bed into a sizable enclosed carrier for use in banking, such as cash vaulting, doorstep ATM services, and cash transfer.
What Gives The Hilux Its Power?
The 2.8-liter diesel engine, which generates 204 PS and up to 500 Nm, powers the Toyota Hilux. There is a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission available for this machine. The precise gearbox choices that have been made available for the various Hilux models described above are unknown to us.
Range of Prices
The costs associated with each of the Toyota Hilux’s customized models are unknown to us. The ordinary version of the pickup costs, ex-showroom in Delhi, between Rs 30.40 lakh and Rs 37.90 lakh. It serves as a high-end substitute for the Isuzu V-Cross and can even be considered an option in place of SUVs like the MG Gloster and Toyota Fortuner.
